Funded by a scholarship and research grant, Dan earned a B.S. from AUB and a M.S. in Computational Mathematics from the University of Illinois.

After working in a not-for-profit organization, he obtained an MBA from Columbia University and pivoted into Investment Banking, rising to Managing Director within 7 years. He worked at UBS, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche, and Bear Stearns, in Auckland, London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Dubai. Most recently, he was Head of Global Markets in MENA for Standard Chartered Bank, retiring in 2015 as CEO/Chairman of the Board in Lebanon.

He later added an Executive Master’s in Organizational Change jointly granted by HEC (Paris) and Oxford University.

Dan holds a Private Pilot’s license and dabbles in fitness (Honolulu Marathon in 4 hours and Dubai 10k in 43 minutes), motorcycles, skiing, travel, and chess (winning the Beirut schools championship at 14).

In 2012, he was an executive producer of the documentary “The Iran Job.”

Dan has been involved in philanthropy and volunteering, e.g. setting up scholarships for disadvantaged students at the American University of Beirut and the International College.

Currently, Dan is a weekly OpEd writer for An-Nahar newspaper and an Advanced Leadership Fellow at Harvard University, focusing his research on designing a political and economic reform program in a hypothetical small country riddled with corruption and negligence.
